I’ve always thought it was an amazing gift for authors to have such control over the written word. So much so that readers forget where they are when reading a book.
So many different minds are trapped in a single book. All of them speaking at once, all of them murmuring and whispering and singing.
Once you let them out, your own mind will never be the same.

Words are hard. They don’t like being bossed around.
I read when I’m overwhelmed. Sometimes, worlds as strange as the stars in the sky are easier to handle than my own.
I don’t believe in magic. I believe in books.
Sometimes I want to reread a book for the first time
Good books often answer questions you didn’t even know you wanted to ask
You can wipe your feet on me, twist my motives around all you like, you can dump millstones on my head and drown me in the river, but you can’t get me out of the story. I’m the plot, babe, and don’t ever forget it.
1) Having to create a dibs list with your best friend over fictional characters
2) Running out of bookshelf space, but continuing to buy more books
3) Inhaling books at the bookstore and getting strange looks
4) Caressing book covers and getting even stranger looks
5) Developing similar personality traits as the character you are reading about
6) Feeling lost after you finish a really good book
7) Only carrying a purse that is big enough to fit a book inside
8) Spending all of your money on books
9) Laughing, crying, etc. when reading a book in public
10) Getting deep in to fandoms (it’s not a cult…right?)
Darling, you’ve got this kindness that makes you so capable. They plant thorns, and you grow roses. You’re a river of honey, and no matter how acidic the rain gets, you remain sweet like lilies.
